you'll come away with a plan

I went through the book exactly as prescribed, and found that by systematically following the steps, I was able to identify new insights, a fresh perspective and lots of action items.
My current status, as a fresh retiree from a life-long career and someone who is looking to stay relevant and maybe generate some additional income, is a subset of the demographic that Ben Michaelis addresses. But, his message has a broad application and lots of insights for the army of "early retirees" out there. Your Next Big Thing: 10 Small Steps to Get Moving and Get Happy

MOTIVATION!!

I have to admit I was skeptical about reading a book about motivation. But the thing is, this book is magic. It is full of ACTION POINTS, and not just "Go write something down," but thoughtful and meaningful questions that make you get to the bottom of what you want and how you can get it. Oh - and the best part is, it reminds you and shows you that it isn't about getting it either, it's about the getting to it - the momentum, the motivation. It's amazing how much is accomplished when you are moving toward something else - something bigger. And this book really gets that and then delivers it!! I am actually working on two new projects right now that are directly related to my having read this book. Two new projects. Before I had like negative 6 projects because there were so many ideas that I had that I was never going to do and ideas that I just wanted to do but didn't know how to start. So the fact that I am now working constantly, consistently and with CLARITY, is kind of miraculous. This is sort of a thank you note to the author. And a huge BUY THIS BOOK to anyone reading this review.

Maybe you can teach entreprenuership

I've always thought that you can't teach entrepreneurship. This book is about as close as it gets. Dr. Michaelis does a wonderful job of presenting best practices for entrepreneurial / business success in a very digestible and accessible way that doesn't over look human factors but sees them as critical to getting things right.
A very different spin / approach that should be beneficial to:
- entrepreneurs
- people in transition
- anyone who wants to do an inventory of where they are to make sure they are on the right track
A well-rounded insightful book that should be required for anyone who feels unsettled with where they are and knows they can do more... but just doesn't know how to get started on the right path.
